A great dupe!
So I usually use the skin cuticles c+e ferulic acid but it is so pricey. A friend of mine who is an esthetician said that this was a dupe for that and had very similar ingredients. I decided to give it a try and honestly the consistency and even the smell are the same. I honestly feel it does work just as well as the more expensive skin cuticles one and I’m so happy I decided to give it a try.

Bought this for me and my boyfriend to use and he loves it more than I do! I highly recommend it. Worth every penny also feels AND smells like the expensive CE ferulic from Skinceuticals! Lightweight, hydration. I want to give it a 5 star but can’t color in all of the stars!

Doesn’t smell great but does seem to help my dark spots
I am not crazy about the odd scent so I only use it at night. However, it does actually seem to be helping my skin. I have 2 semi-dark spots on my face that have lightened up over the few weeks that I have been using this product. It spreads easily and is not greasy. I would give 5 stars if the scent were better or if it was unscented. Even with that, I would buy it again.

Stained My Face & Neck A Dark Orangey-Brown; Turns Into Self-Tanner When It Oxidizes On Your Skin
Stained my skin a dark orangey-brown. I looked into it and there’s a PhD chemist who blogged about this years ago. The ingredients turn into self-tanner when they oxidize. Any effect that seems like its lightening dark spots is an optical illusion, because your dark spots appear lighter in contrast to your darkly stained skin. My whole face, neck, and upper chest are blotchy with what appears to be self-tanner stains. It’s especially bad on any dead skin cells, so any dry patches of your face will be extra dark and prominent. Especially on days when I used this with a water-based gel sunscreen, because oils help protect the Vitamin C from oxidation. Without an oily lotion/cream sunscreen, my skin toasted extra dark. “ascorbic acid eventually oxidises to erythrulose! …Erythrulose is an ingredient in fake tans. …These ingredients work by reacting with proteins in the dead stratum corneum layer of your skin to produce brown compounds called melanoidins. These melanoidins stay on your skin and give it a brown colour, until the dead cells slough off (after around a week).The reaction is a Maillard reaction, similar to the reactions that happen when meat and baked goods turn brown with heat. …So that’s why vitamin C serums can stain – the ascorbic acid essentially turn into fake tan on your skin! And you’ll notice that it has that signature soy sauce-like fake tan smell too.” It smells like hot dog water or cured ham.

I love most elf skin products and this one does not disappoint! I have been adding products to my skincare routine as my skin is aging. I have sensitive skin , so I have only used this a couple times so far. It feels nice and hopefully it will help!

Not for me
I like Elf brand but this product felt very thick and sticky after I applied it and I always had to add water to my face and work the product down my neck and chest to distribute it so it could dry. I used it for about 2 weeks, but I was also breaking out in little irritation spots on my face, which made my skin look very red and blotchy, and is not a good look on a dry skinned 63 year old lol, so I had to stop using it . Part of this may be that vitamin C just isn’t compatible with my sensitive skin, but if your skin can tolerate it and maybe use a little less to start with, you might like it.

I loveeeee this product! I’ve used Maelove vitamin C Antioxidant Serum for a few years, though the price has gradually gone up and its more difficult to get in Canada :(. I’ve been looking for a good vitamin c Serum that doesn’t irritate my skin or burn when applied and one that isn’t diluted with other products that don’t benefit the active ingredients.Finally found my holy grail!I love the packaging, a heavy glass bottle with a wonderful dropper that’s built into the lid, I prefer the button over the runner droppers.I’ve been using it for three days so far and already a noticed a difference in my dark spots, smoother skin, smoother fine lines, my skin is radiant and glowing, even the dark circles under my eyes are brighter and like I said, only three days in!The price is remarkable. e.l.f’s skin care products are so quality and affordable. I know that this is an exact dupe of the SkinCenticals C E Ferulic Acid that goes for $220 for 30ml. Their patent expired and e.l.f. recreated the product at an affordable rate. Maelove Antioxidant Serum was a dupe of the SkinCenticals one, designed by MIT and goes for $47.I have a lot of issues with my skin due to hormones being imbalanced and have tried so many products to try and get my skin back to looking healthy, smooth and radiant and this product really has made such a difference! I’ll 100% be buying again! I hope they also sell the mini bottle on Amazon. I’ve love the purchase that so I can travel with it too.You won’t regret buying it. To the other comment that says it’s oxidized. That isn’t true. You gotta shake the bottle because the applicator store some in the glass straw and l-ascorbic acid happens to have a yellow ish orange colour to it. When it oxidizes it’s much darker orange and there’s a smell. This serum from what I can see is pretty shelf stable and is the best serum you can buy for this price point. I’m telling all my friends!!
