Works but hard to swallow it down
I am prone to annoying dry coughs and while I do regularly suck on honey lozenges, I thought I would give this elderberry syrup a try to see if it would work better for me. So what did I think?Flavor: I’m a fan of elderberry and this was much more than that and to be honest, really hard to swallow. Whether it’s the eucalyptus or the thyme or one of the other essential oils, this tasted very mediciny and it took a coupof le tries for me to swallow it.Did it help: It coated my throat well and did appease the cough long enough that I was able to fall asleep, which is what I was after.Ingredients: Honey, Black Elderberry, Ivy Leaf, Eucalyptus, Pine, and Thyme essential oils.Overall: I like that it’s GMO-free and made in the US. And the fact that it works on my annoying dry coughs makes it worth it to me, but ooof. Rough tasting.

This works really well for coughs and surprisingly even seems to help runny noses. We love the kids version too! Some of the ingredients (honey & lemon) serve as natural preservatives in addition to having health benefits and a wonderful taste. That said, these two ingredients in particular are also acidic – so I’m so glad this company chose to spend the extra money to put this product in glass (acidic products in plastic leach chemicals). That says a lot about the company’s care IMO.Keep in mind that this product needs to be refrigerated after opening and says it will only guarantees freshness for around 6 months in the fridge. It’s a small size bottle though, so I believe we will use it by then (especially with kids in the house bringing home all kinds of crud on the reggie). I will happily accept that trade off for no toxic poison in the product. Overall, this is a wonderful product from a great brand.
