Can’t use it as I hoped
Even though I read over the listing carefully before ordering, I hadn’t noticed that this serum contains salicylic acid. The different listing descriptions go into great detail about the rest of the ingredients but doesn’t mention SA. Instead that information is tucked away land either overlooked by me originally or perhaps added afterwards. The reason why this makes a difference is because I use Matrixyl 3000 for my microneedling routines and that’s what I intended to use this for. It is a common and recommended pairing. However, salicylic acid is to be avoided both a few days before and several days after microneedling! So those times I need Matrixyl serum most, I’m unable to use this. Other puzzling thing is that acids like SA are usually not paired with peptides like Matrixyl. The science is over my head and I’m certainly not the one to explain it but supposedly one destroys the other and renders it ineffective. And even if that were not the case, my dry, aging skin doesn’t tolerate salicylic acid well at all so this isn’t a serum I’d be able to use often, again rendering it kinda useless to me unfortunately. The witch hazel and essential oils only increase the likelihood hood this would be drying or irritating. The ingredients are free of alcohol, parabens and dyes and it is cruelty free and made in the US. It comes well packed with a safety seal which is good. It has no scent and is thin and slick and applies easily. This particular formulation however is just not a good fit for my skin or my needs. The price is equivalent of what you’d pay for popular serums from well established brands. For a brand still yet to establish themselves I think this price point isn’t justified.

seems like a good combination anti-aging serum
This HELIKA anti-aging serum contains matrixyl 3000, agireline, vitamin C, and hyaluronic acid as active ingredients. It also contains other ingredients like niacinamide and aloe vera. These are all ingredients that are known to promote skin health. They help to minimize the impacts of aging on the skin, brighten the skin, and boost hydration. I am familiar with all of those ingredients and use them daily. In my normal skincare routine, I use each of those ingredients separately. So one obvious benefit of this Helika serum is that it combines all of those ingredients into a single serum as opposed to individual serums. That ultimately saves time in your skincare routine. It’s a clear serum that absorbs quickly and easily into your skin. It did not irritate my skin whatsoever. It’s a product that isn’t going to deliver immediate results but instead is something you will need to incorporate multiple times a week, if not daily, for an extended period. It doesn’t have a scent. At the current price point of $19.99, it is on par with other skincare products. My only concern is that I don’t know the specific percentages of each ingredient, so I worry that it might not be as effective as my stand-alone serums for each product that are have specified concentrations listed on them. Other than that, it seems okay. I plan to keep using it on a daily basis since my skin tolerates it.

    HÉLIKA Matrixyl 3000 + Argireline + Vitamin C Face Serum – FRAGRANCE FREE/UNSCENTED
This is a great combo serum with ingredients that I have until now used separately. The consistency is a little on the thinner side, while when you apply it, it spreads evenly with good coverage. There is zero smell to this, which is fantastic. The Matrixyl 3000 is the peptide component. This is a well studied, highly regarded peptide. You need to use this consistently for a while for it to be effective. The argireline is considered to be like a topical botox, it too is fairly well regarded, and I do use it consistently, but it’s definitely not a replacement for botox, and while it does have some nerve dampening effect that is useful, it’s just not able to penetrate deeply enough for a dramatic effect – it’s subtle. Vitamin C is a hero for brightening and evening skin tone. The one ingredient I personally am not a fan of is the hyaluronic acid. On my face it makes it look puffy instead of hydrated. The value for the price is decent. It doesn’t take a ton for good coverage. One criticism is the size, I’d love to see a larger size product that is a better value. My routine for this product is post-shower (at night), apply witch hazel, do some other things, apply this product, get dressed, brush teeth, then apply tretinoin and sleep. Gotta give some time between the steps!

    Very light serum, absorbs well!
This serum is very light. It does absorb very quickly but it is very watery like a toner. It has no scent at all and does not seem to interfere with my other skin care. It does seem too have a lot going on as far as active ingredients and so I am not sure if there is enough of each ingredient to be effective. I usually use these ingredients separately. So, far I have not noticed any change in skin texture or clarity. However, I have not had any negative effects either so it seems it might be ok for those with sensitive skin to try.

  5. pepiana

nice more basic peptide serum, maybe not the best for drier skin
It seems like skincare lines have been in the “who can stuff the most peptides in a new product” contest lately, and while I love peptides and will absolutely try even the 50-peptide formulations, sometimes more basic is good. This serum contains two very well-studied peptides (matrixyl and argireline) which are said to reduce the appearance of fine lines. It goes on smoothly and absorbs well, without feeling sticky or filmy, and without causing pilling under SPF if I use it during the day. There is no fragrance, which is always a plus for me.I took off one star because the formulation contains salicylic acid. While not at all a bad thing in itself, I found it a bit of an odd addition to a peptide formula, being that it is more of a chemical exfoliant. That means this probably isn’t the peptide serum to use for microneedling or even with a needle roller, and if your fine lines are at all due to dehydration/dryness, any kind of sensitivity to salicylic acid could cause a bit further drying and make it seem as if those lines were more pronounced. Personally, I can generally use salicylic acid (particularly in the warmer months) without issue, but it’s worth a mention.
