Well sealed; all natural ingredients
The bottle arrived in good shape, well-sealed. The instructions say this could be heated to make it more flowy, because at room temperature it is a very viscous, like a paste. Serving size is one table spoon, or 10 ml according to the label, and I did not get any adverse reaction at this dosage. I do know people allergic to everything bee-related, so if you know you have allergies or if it’s the first time you try Propolis you should seek advice from a healthcare provider, to be safe.I am not a big fan of the taste, so I masked it in a smoothie and that made it palatable for me. I appreciate this has all natural ingredients, but so far I am not sure of the effectiveness: it should be taken as a syrup to soothe throat pain and coughing, and I did not follow the directions because of the taste. If I get a real bad cough or sour throat I may force myself to take this raw, and see how much of a difference it may make.

Very thick syrup
This bottle of syrup has a cellophane wrap and also a tamper proof lid, so it is good to know it hasn’t been tampered with. I shook it well and opened and it has a consistency that is very thick – much like you would expect from honey. I poured some into a small dosing cup but next time I would put it directly on a kitchen spoon since it’s so thick. It tasted like herbs mixed with honey. I could definitely taste the eucalyptus and felt the aroma move into my nose. I did not find the taste offensive. One note – the label suggests dosing of 2 teaspoons for older kids (and presumably adults) and lists that as 20 ml, but 2 teaspoons is 10 ml, so be careful about that.

Slightly soothing
While it was slightly soothing for my recent sore throat, it did not work as well as other over the counter remedies at the pharmacy like cepacol. For those who prefer more natural remedies, this can be a nice addition to their medicine box. However, I was not a fan of the herbal and earthy flavor that had me question my choices as I could still taste after it went down to coat my throat. The consistency was thicker than honey and the two spoonsfull was hard to choke down. If it was for kids, I am thinking the parent will have a fight on their hands.

Biovital Propolis in Honey – Vile Taste and Lack of Information
I was trying to sleep and started coughing so I got up to try this Biovital Propolis honey that I’d ordered. I’ve taken propolis and honey before so I had high hopes for this product. I took a small spoonful and oh my, was shocked by how vile it tasted. Granted, it contains eucalyptus, aloe vera and ginger, but I cannot imagine giving this to a child.There is not an ingredient list on the bottle, package or on this page other than the above ingredients in honey and propolis and no indication at all what amount of propolis or any other ingredient is in this product. Plus this page says the product contains Tropical Pure Honey Herbal with 10 DHA which is an omega 3 fatty acid in cold water fish. This is not listed on the product or bottle nor are any other herbal ingredients, hard pass here.

My daughter tried this and could barely get it down. Afterwards she said she felt sick to her stomach. Caveat, she does have a sensitive stomach.Her Argentinian fiance tried it and said it tasted like a kind of candy they have and he was not put off by it. I tasted it myself and I don’t think I’ll be using it.It’s got great ingredients, and if you can get past the taste or mix it with enough beverage to dilute it then it may be great for you.
