Being Green is Simple
Our story
How we got our start Founded in 2008, Simple Ecology is a family run and owned business. We’re dedicated to helping the planet in any way we can, through offering products that will easily and practically help you do the same! What makes our product unique We’re one of a select few US-based companies certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), for strict environmental & social (workers) criteria. Our products are designed for quality, value, & ecological benefits. We sell directly to cut out the “middle-man” & pass the savings on to you! Why we love what we do The planet is in trouble with climate change, species extinction, ocean litter, habitat degradation, and microplastics everywhere. We want to help change the current course and enable you to do the same.
KEEPS FRUITS AND VEGETABLES FRESH LONGER; the breathable fabric allows ethylene gas to escape, plastic bags trap the gas and accelerate rotting and spoilage
NO MICROPLASTIC SHEDDING; polyester and nylon bags are synthetic plastic fabrics that shed microplastic particles on your fruits and vegetables, cotton is COMPLETELY NATURAL
EXTERIOR TARE WEIGHT TAG IN POUNDS, OUNCES AND GRAMS; makes checkout easy, just have the checker subtract the bag weight from the total so you don’t pay for it
SUSTAINABLE BIODEGRADABLE PACKAGING; No excess retail packaging destined for landfills. Our products ship in recycled Kraft paper envelopes that can be reused, recycled or composted, NO PLASTIC

Lovely Muslin Reusable Produce Shopping and Storage Bags!
These are very good quality produce shopping and storage bags. They are thick, sturdy, and durable. They are easy to clean. I cleaned them by hand so far with no problems. I have used some of them to put my fresh herbs or produce in it. They have come handy during this virus pandemic to keep my food from germs. I can also just use them instead of the little very thin plastic produce bags. I am satisfied with my purchase.

Good quality thick organic cotton produce bags
Very good quality bags. pretty thick fabric that’s not going to rip. I like natural unbleached color. if i’m buying organic produce, i’d rather have organic cotton bags to put it in. Work great for apples, carrots, tall leafy greens, loose nuts, grains, even bread etc. I can recommend these to anyone. I got the largest size possible (XL) cause i’d rather have too much space than not enough. And these are really large! Ties on bags are ok too

No More Plastic
Love the fact that they are cotton, not plastic. Perfect for storing my home grown cabbage leaves and other large leafed product. They can be tossed in the washing machine as needed. More ecologically safe than using plastic bags.

Love these so much
Love these so much. I had bought some mesh ones on Amazon, but they were too small and they didn’t work for buying oatmeal and flour and such in bulk. These are excellent for that and produce, nuts, anything in bulk actually. High quality as well. Love that they come in a 3 pack, maybe 5 would be better because then you always have them in the car, purse, wherever. I plan to give these as gifts for the holidays this year!

Cotton Produce Bags
I only gave these four stars because the Commissary, which is where I shop, can’t subtract the tare weight. Neither could Sprout, another market I use occasionally. Otherwise, there bags are great. I also have nylon mesh bags that I use mostly because they weigh hardly anything. These cotton bags are well made and if you ask sometimes the checkout clerk will remove the items from the bag to weigh them, but I found this to be time consuming, so I only use the small one.

Love my reusable produce bags! SAVE the HONU!
In an effort to use less plastic I purchased these muslin bags to put apples, bananas and herbs and such in at the grocery store. Some check out personel are impressed that I even have reusable produce bags (WIN). Others get annoyed that they have to look in the bag to see what to ring up. I had one kid just give me the price of an onion for a bag of a bunch of different items. The bags are sturdy and the tie is wonderful to make sure nothing falls out.Yes, they add weight to the scale when being rung up but I’m not too concerned with the minimal weight they add. I would rather save the HONU than pay .02 less for my produce. The size of these bags is extra large, I have put in two bundles of bananas in them and had room for more. It’s helpful though to have the extra room for things like long herbs or carrots or celery. They do hold up to weight as well, again two bunches of bananas or 5-7 apples and the bags held up. They feel sturdy and thick and not cheap.

Do not work well
I was excited for these but after putting greens in the bag for a couple of days, they turned soft. These do not work!

Heavy duty, but a little too much
Good quality but very heavy! I feel like I’m paying an ounce more every time I use each bag…. good if you use it just for carrying, but not for weighing produce.

It’s been 2 years since I purchased these, and they are still being used. It helps leafy greens from getting wilted or slimy, but most importantly, it reduces my plastic consumption. I will soak the bags in Oxi after each use (cool water to prevent shrinkage) for 15-30 minutes before hand washing, and hang to dry so I have clean bags ready for my next grocery run. The size is perfect for a big bunch of kale or collards.

The bags themselves are well made but I have a couple of issues. One is shrinkage after washing in cold water and air drying. The bag shrunk 1 inch. The other issue is the bags only weigh 40gm, not 51gm as sewn into the bag. While I am still using the bag, I would not purchase again due to the product not being as described (tare weight and size after washing)

I bought these to pack my lunch in to take to work. I washed them first. They didn’t really shrink. I could’ve used the large but extra large is fine. It saves on using plastic bags. I throw containers, fruit etc in bag and then place it in the fridge at work.

These are great little bags, I’ve mostly used them for buying bulk dried beans so far. They are a bit too small for produce overall though.

Love them!!!Great to do my vegetable groceries….
