THE FIRST EVER REEF-PROTECTING SUNSCREEN – Every “coral reef-safe” sunscreen before now just avoided harm… but Coral Care goes further. In a world-first, this formula actively feeds coral, turning sunscreen from harmful environmental pollution into food that helps coral grow and thrive.
PROVEN TO BOOST CORAL GROWTH – Extensive testing at the University of Derby shows that Coral Care increases coral growth by 50% compared to other coral reef-friendly sunscreen—and an incredible 21% more than Mother Nature alone (sunscreen-free environments). It contains consciously formulated natural nutrients and minerals that actively nourish coral.
SPF 30 PROTECTION FOR ALL SKIN TYPES – Coral Care reef-approved sunscreen provides broad spectrum UVA & UVB protection. Water-resistant for up to 80 minutes. This biodegradable sunscreen is perfect for snorkeling, diving, surfing, and watersports. Globally-compliant and ideal for conservation work, beach trips and tropical destinations like Hawaii, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
USDA CERTIFIED & AWARD-WINNING – A USDA Certified Biobased product and Bronze Award winner for Innovation at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, Coral Care is globally recognized for setting a new standard in sun protection: one that benefits both humans and the coral reefs we swim among.
INTRODUCING RPF: A NEW WAY TO PROTECT REEFS – Everyone knows SPF protects your skin… but what about coral? Meet RPF (Reef Protection Factor), a new standard for sunscreen safety. Coral Care is the first sunscreen rated for ‘Reef Protection’, meaning it actively helps coral grow instead of just avoiding harm.

Protect the reefs
Great for the reef.

Mixed but overall great in application.
I really like this sunscreen for body application. Overall it’s pretty lightweight and comfortable, applies pretty easily. I’m ghastly pale, and it does hold up really well vs. the sun for me. That said I feel like I don’t love it for face (I wear makeup and my makeup doesn’t like this formulation), and I feel like the quantity to apply as indicated might be insufficient? Hard to really say. I tend to go a bit heavy as I am really fair, but given the titanium dioxide it for sure leaves a white cast when I wear it to a level that I guess feels familiar/appropriate? It’s not a big deal for me, and I don’t think it would be flattering on those with more pigmentation.I love that this formula is reef safe, formulation overall looks really clean. I do think the feeding the coral reefs situation is a little gimmicky, particularly as wakame already exists in the ocean, could be true. That’s neat.I think the biggest reservation I have is that these are 2.5oz tubes for presently $45 and that kind of seems really steep? I bought two 6oz tubes of my favorite sunscreen for $20 earlier this year, which are also reef-safe, and for as much sunscreen as I wear will go a lot further. That formulation actually wears really well under my makeup, though it’s a hybrid mineral and chemical base, so it’s hard to be sure it’s as clean and reef-safe as they claim. Kind of mixed here. I do like the formulation, just kind of rough at this price. I think if you spend a lot of time in the ocean and reef preservation is a thing for you, maybe worth.

Protect the reef!
I love the idea of this, although shipment was delayed…. And we did not receive it before our trip. But the dive shop had the same brand, so obviously they recommend it. We will take this on our next trip.

Would rub in
Its so thick no matter how much I rubbed i couldn’t get it to rub in so it left white on my skin.

Eco-Friendly Sunscreen That Helps Coral Reefs Thrive
When we go snorkeling, we always choose coral-safe sunscreen, and this one goes a step beyond. Its natural, biodegradable mineral formula is designed not just to protect the skin but also to boost coral growth — reportedly up to 50% more than other reef-friendly sunscreens and 21% more than Mother Nature herself! I love knowing that while enjoying the ocean, we’re contributing positively to the coral reef ecosystem. The lotion absorbs quickly, feels light and non-greasy, and provides reliable SPF 30 protection. My only wish is that the SPF were higher than 50 so that we could re-apply less often.

Old school thickness and opacity but truly scent-free
This feels thick, tacky, and is hard to rub in. Even after vigorously rubbing in and waiting a bit, the white cast is still visible and the texture is a little sticky, and this stuff will rub off on clothes, upholstery, etc. So it’s definitely for a certain category of outdoor use, like a day outside in the water, which isn’t the worst, just limits its usefulness. I was most drawn to this because the idea of going beyond being reef safe and actually being beneficial to reef life is very appealing and I want to support any innovation in skincare that could advance that goal. I’ll try to use this up before it expires for areas like bare shoulders where I won’t be rubbing up against surfaces and when I’ll be outside for a stretch. But for an all-purpose sunscreen, this isn’t great.Note that the white cast effect is severe. I hesitated to use it on my face because I didn’t think it would be comfortable and I knew I’d have to put makeup over it to look halfway normal, then I decided to try it once so I could report the results for a review. No exaggeration, it looked like I put on a clay mask. Totally opaque and white. It also had a stifling feel so I couldn’t stand to leave it on and had to wash it off right away. That was very hard to do so I am, if nothing else, confident that this would be sweat and water-resistant! But unfortunately I can’t give any information about whether it’s irritating, gets into eyes, or how well it does under makeup.I can report, though, that it does not smell like old-fashioned sunscreens. I am sensitive to scented products and can’t take anything too strong or anything with any musk whatsoever, and this is not only fragrance free, it doesn’t smell at all. Like less scent than most unscented lotions or other products where one can still smell the components of the product itself. I was really pleased and impressed with this aspect of the sunscreen.

Reef Safe SPF 30
First things first, EVERY mineral sunscreen with titanium dioxide will leave a white cast. It’s unavoidable. Even if you had zero melanin, you’d probably still have a white cast. I have olive skin and get pretty tan during the summer months, and this causes my skin to look slightly purple. So set your expectations appropriately.Since it contains titanium dioxide, it offers great sun protection, and it’s pretty easy to tell when you need to reapply. I like that the ingredients are considered “reef safe.” Our oceans are under constant attack by human activities and I’m happy to help in any way I can.I got this as a two pack, and the price is a bit hefty, although it contains higher quality ingredients, making it safer for both you and the environment.

Awesome Sunscreen!
I find that Stream2Sea Coral Care Reef Safe Sunscreen SPF 30 is a fantastic eco-friendly option for sun protection. First, I really appreciate that it’s the first reef-approved mineral sunscreen and is actually designed to help boost coral growth while keeping skin safe. Second, the formula is non-toxic, biodegradable, and water resistant, which makes it perfect for snorkeling, beach days, or perfect to take on a cruise. Even though it’s a travel size, a little goes a long way, and it feels good knowing it won’t harm marine life. Overall, Stream2Sea Coral Care is a sunscreen that protects both me and the ocean and it works as it should.
