The True Botanicals Phyto-Retinol Sleep Serum is pleasant to use. I have been regularly using retinol for over a year so my skin is adjusted. I didn’t experience any irritation or excessive dryness after trying this serum.It does have a strong scent and I typically shy away from skincare with strong fragrance but this hasn’t aggravated my skin or caused any breakouts. The scent is pleasant and does dissipate after the product has absorbed and I’ve layered it with my moisturizer.The serum didn’t leave my skin tacky after dry down but my skin did feel a bit tight and dry. I use a heavier moisturizer at night so this isn’t an issue for me. I’d rather pile on some extra moisturizer than have it leaving my skin feel greasy or oily.I didn’t expect miraculous results because I’ve already been using other retinol products for so long. After 9 nights of applying, I don’t notice any visible results but my skin texture feels just as smooth as when I’ve used my other retinol products. Usually, I can tell the difference in a few days if it’s not effective. My skin starts to feel rougher and appear duller. That hasn’t happened while using this product- so far, so good.This serum is pricey and the bottle is small. While I do enjoy using the product, I’d need to see more benefit before splurging $90 for an ounce of product.
