Helpful, but some parts felt familiar
I’ve read a few books on trauma, gut health, and nervous system healing, and this one does a great job of bringing those pieces together in a simple, approachable way. The exercises are easy to follow and don’t feel overwhelming, which makes it easier to actually stick with them. That said, since I’ve read similar books before, a few sections felt a little repetitive and not as in-depth as I was hoping.

Must Read For Real People Who Truly Want to Feel Better.
Kimberly Elisabeth Gray’s Vagus Never Brain-Belly Reset book is a very helpful, jam packed, research rich, practical tips book how regular people can be healthier and happier by strengthening their vagus nerve. She writes, “The vagus nerve holds a unique position in the body as a connector between the brain and the gut, creating a communication line constantly shaping how we feel and function.” Indicators of Vagus Nerve dysfunction include persistent anxiety, worry, and feelings of shame, increased or persistent symptoms of complex PTSD, difficulty managing stress, digestive issues such as IBS, constipation, chronic fatigue, and heightened sensitivity to pain—which pretty much includes everyone I know—including me. She gives practical ideas from diet, meditation, exercise, breathing and so much more. It is a smart book and I would add, a must read book for those who want to feel better.

Pretty sure this was written by AI
This is the first book I’ve ever read where I was pretty sure it was written by AI. It covers good content but is insanely repetitive. It says the same things over and over again Very oddAll in all the content is good but it could have been 1/3 the length and covered everything just fine.

Practical Guide for Healing Mind and Body
This book offers a clear and accessible introduction to using vagus nerve exercises for trauma recovery and gut health. I appreciated the simple routines that don’t feel overwhelming and the author’s compassionate approach. While some explanations repeat, the overall content is helpful and motivating. A great starting point for anyone curious about connecting emotional healing with physical well-being.

This book = validation + legit healing exercises – I DEF recommend!
As a 58-year-old woman living with CPTSD, I’ve spent years trying to understand what was happening inside my body—why I couldn’t relax, why my emotions felt like landmines, why my gut always seemed to mirror my anxiety. This book brought so much of that into focus. It offers a practical, compassionate, and deeply affirming look at the vagus nerve—and how critical it is in regulating our responses to trauma. The author does an excellent job of breaking down complex biology without making it dry or overwhelming. Instead of being another textbook on the nervous system, this felt more like a healing manual, rooted in both science and empathy.I particularly appreciated the variety of strategies offered. From small shifts in diet to breathwork, posture, and even how we relate to shame, the book gave me realistic tools that I could apply immediately. It’s not prescriptive or rigid—it encourages readers to find their own rhythm, which is so important when you’re coming from a background of emotional dysregulation.More than anything, I felt seen. The connection between trauma, shame, the gut, and the nervous system is laid out so clearly. It validated so many things I’ve felt but didn’t have words for until now.Highly recommended for anyone on a healing journey—especially those who’ve been gaslit, minimized, or left wondering why traditional self-help didn’t work. This book connects the dots.

I picked up this book on a whim, and I’m so glad I did. As a self-employed single parent, I’m constantly stuck in go mode—a cycle driven by fear and past trauma. I tend to overwork myself to the point of physical and mental exhaustion, with high demands on my shoulders every day. That’s why this book spoke to me—I knew I needed to make small, manageable changes and somehow tap into my own ability to heal.Kimberley Gray’s book gave me practical tools to calm my mind and take care of myself without adding more stress. Just a few weeks in, I’m already feeling happier, more focused, and more in tune with myself. I can’t recommend it enough for anyone who feels overwhelmed but is ready to make a change.
