How Did We Get Our Start?
Back in the mid-1990s, our founder Bill Whyte worked as a carpenter. He worked hard, and so did his hands. They would often split and crack in the frigid New England winters. One night, seeking a soothing solution, he mixed up some beeswax and olive oil to create a simple herbal balm. It helped his hands so much, he decided to share it with everyone he knew – and the rest, as they say, is Badger history.

Works great!
No scent, which is ok. But very thick stuff. Kind of hard to blend in skin; but worked amazingly! Sat in the lake for over 2 hours, forgot to re-apply; skin was slightly red, but not hot and not burnt. Next day, redness was gone.

Perfect for constant use
I love this sunscreen. I do environmental research and am constantly outside for 8-12 hours a day. My mom bought some of this for me to try last year, and now I won’t use anything else! I love how it is organic and reef friendly, cruelty free and 50% recycled packaging. I have acne-prone skin and I can use this every day (multiple times a day) without breaking out. It moisturizes my skin and gives it a glow. It feels a bit oily when it goes on, but not in a bad way. This is the perfect protective sunscreen to use constantly during my research.

Better sunscreen option
It’s thick and you really have to squeeze to get out, but it rubs in well and seems to work fine. We used at the beach so had to reapply after sometime, as is expected.

It’s ok…
A couple things I wish I would’ve known prior to purchasing this…first, it feels extremely greasy on my skin. I was expecting it to be different than that. Second, if you keep it inside your house where temperatures are relatively cool, it is very hard to dispense until you let it warm up. I could hardly dispense it the first couple of times I used it. To the point that my hand was cramping from trying to squeeze it out of the bottle to apply. This past weekend I went to the beach, and because it had been in 80 degree temps for a little bit before I applied, it softened and came right out. The problem is that when I’m at home, I don’t keep it in warm temperatures, so If I’m going to apply before I go outside, it is very hard to get out of the bottle. Also, if it is in this state, you have to rub it around in your hands to warm it up in order to be able to effectively get it onto your skin. It’s not that it can’t be done, it’s just inconvenient. In addition, because of how hard I had to squeeze the bottle to get it out, there is not a section of the bottle that is bent and I’m just hoping it doesn’t crack open before I’m done with the bottle. I didn’t get burned, so it works and I like that it’s non-toxic (this is the reason I purchased it), but I wish it was easier to use.

Great clean sunscreen
This is one of my favorite clean sunscreens. It goes on easily and doesn’t leave your skin white and provides good protection from the sun. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a reef safe sunscreen that isn’t bad for the environment or your body. I much prefer this version over the tube one as that one is harder to blend in.
