It’s a fine-dust storm
My first time with this product. If they recommend 3/4 teaspoon per dose, there’s plenty of room in the pack for a plastic spoon, if they wanted to be helpful. Tableware that calls itself a teaspoon is probably not accurate, and some people without appropriate measuring spoons are put in a Lurch. The powder is a reeeeeally fine powder. When your re-closing the bag, one usually tries to squeeze out extra air from the bag. Upon squeezing — even slowly and gently, a puff of dust inevitably expels from the bag. I.e., it makes dust, which in this case is also waste. The power is soooo fine, there’s no getting around it.Mix 3/4 tsp of powder into a cup of water? Except, the dust doesn’t dissolve. No help with warm water. It makes a fair colloidal suspension, so drink it down and keep refilling the cup with a little water until you’re satisfied that you’ve picked up and drank most of the remaining wet dust. You’ll want a few extra mouthfuls of water, anyway, to wash down the gritty mouth. One option would be to fill empty gelatin capsules with the dust, but a dust-cloud will lift into the air if disturbed by performing such a procedure. Dust on your hands, dust on your tools, dust on the outside of the capsules, dust in the air, dust up your nose. Filling capsules suggests poking your fingers or implements into that bag, but that’s the last thing you want to do unless you want dust all over. Did I mention it’s a reeeally fine powder that doesn’t abide gravity, so any disturbance and it’s all over the place. Finer and lighter than talcum powder. At least talcum tends to clump, which helps keep it from going all over unless you want it to. There’s no clumping with this mag citrate, it’s just the lightest dust, ready to take off, antigravity. My first time out with this product. I should have started with the 8 oz size, but I swallowed the marketing and got the 1 lb size because it’s more economical. I try not to inhale too much dust, but maybe a little mag citrate isn’t such a problem, one can only hope, since I’ll be dealing with this every morning for a while.—-Update 11 months later…On the one hand, I complain a lot. On the other hand, I just bought another 1 Pound bag. After a month or two, the problem with uncontrolled dust just went away. I stick my spoon into the bag, then I close the bag, and I’m not troubled by a dust storm anymore. It will be interesting to see if the new bag, which is still in transit, brings another dust storm. At least, now I know that’s a problem that’s just at the start of the bag.Apparently, I learned at some point to just put the spoonful of dry, dusty powder straight into my mouth. Then I wash it down with water, tea, martini, whatever. There’s no taste to worry about. And I stopped worrying about the 3/4 tsp. jazz. After a year, I could have gotten a measuring spoon out of the drawer, but I didn’t care, contrary to how much I complained. Likely, I’ve been taking more than 3/4 tsp. I’m walking evidence that taking a little extra isn’t a problem. Most important, different magnesium supplements absorb into your protoplasm with varying efficiency. Magnesium citrate absorbs the worst, which leaves more to arrive in your large intestine, and therefore maximizing the laxative effect of most any magnesium compound supplement.Instead, if you prefer a minimum laxative effect from your magnesium supplement, the Internet says you’ll be better off with magnesium glysinate lysinate, because that one absorbs more quickly. And add some magnesium Threonate, the only mag supplement that crosses the blood-brain barrier, which is a good thing.Personally, I have a digestive problem, an injury, so a little laxative action is good for me. Now that I’ve calmed down, I appreciate the bulk packaging economy of this fine, dusty powder. It’s ok as long as you don’t inhale through your mouth and get the fine, fine powder down your windpipe by mistake. (It hasn’t happened to me yet.)Even if the powder won’t dissolve, my complaints have, so I’m upping my rating from 3 stars to 5 stars.

Preferred To Natural Calm (and more than 2x as much magnesium!)
Magnesium is a massively important mineral for health, found to be involved in more than 300 bodily processes. The lack of it is linked with almost every major deadly disease (Google my article “50 studies suggest magnesium deficiency is killing us” for the data and meta-analyses on that). In addition to it’s life-giving properties, it also is highly relaxing (at the cellular level!).NOTE: NEVER buy magnesium oxide. Studies show it has a 4% absorption rate! Magnesium citrate is the right stuff if you actually want to absorb magnesium into your body.I’ve used the product Natural Calm (Mag Citrate) for a few years—they’re the market leader—and it’s been pretty decent. But I wanted to try this because nothing is added. I’ve noticed a stronger positive impact from this magnesium, and I have a theory as to why. When Bulk Supplements says this is a pure product, they mean it. I read from another reviewer that Natural calm is ionized magnesium, which is why it dissolves in water. I think Natural Calm adds citric acid to it.***This magnesium citrate, however, will not dissolve in water***, unless perhaps it is hot or an acidic beverage (which the BulkSupp website said helps it dissolve). That said, I don’t mind it not dissolving. I put it in a water bottle and give it a good shake before each sip.Because this is a pure product, I think I gave myself a higher dose of magnesium than typical. With natural calm I used two spoonfuls. With this one, I used one spoonful, and it felt like a lot more than the two spoonfuls of natural calm. But I didn’t have any loose stools, so it mustn’t have been an excessive amount. You might want to measure it out more carefully than I do, but currently I put 1/2 to 3/4 a spoonful into a bottle of water every night. I sleep well usually, but with this I sleep like a champion. What you’re getting here is a tasteless powder that does not dissolve. I like the tasteless nature of this over the tart Natural Calm flavor. This appears to be pure and quality magnesium; I prefer the least-tampered-with products, which this seems to be. And importantly, based on how it makes me feel, it is definitely magnesium and not sand. This product is not sand. Five stars.UPDATEI did some basic math from the nutrition labels of each product, and you’ll want to see this if you’re after the most bang for your buck.Natural Calm costs $24 for 16 oz. It gives you 100 servings per bottle, and those servings contain 350 mg of magnesium.BulkSupplements costs $22 for 17.6 oz. It gives you 150 servings per bag, and those servings contain 500 mg of magnesium.SO…Natural Calm: 100 servings x 350 mg per serving = 35,000 mg of magnesium per packageBulkSupplements: 150 servings x 500 mg per serving = 75,000 mg of magnesium per packageThat’s more than twice as much!

I use it as a supplement and as a laxative. Works well both ways

Veel goedkoper dan kleine potjes met tabletten. Poeder is gemakkelijk zelf te doseren met een goedkoop mg weegschaaltje.

Product picture shows the nutritional information to be 2000mg per serving, consisting of 330mg magnesium. However, what you will actually receive is 3500mg serving for 400mg magnesium. This is approximately 5% magnesium concentration reduction. They do list 3500/400 in the product title, but this is conflicting with the product photo.

This one does not solve well in water. Why???We tried several other Mg citrates but this one is first that does not solve.By chemistry law Mg salts solve good in water, so what is it that this is so badly dissolved?Impurities???

Mg citrate should be soluble. This one just sit at the bottom of the cup. Taste like chalk powder.Buyers be aware: What you put into your body.
