Serum
The serum is nice to apply to the skin. It’s not irritating, and feels smooth and easy to absorb. So far, it’s been working as well as other vitamin C serums I’ve tried. The quality is great, and I like the dark bottle, to prevent oxidation.

Goodal is a reputable K-beauty brand, and this is a reformulated version (or maybe a US version?) of its Vita-A Retinol Ampoule. It has no added fragrance, and in use, there is only the faintest hint to my sensitive nose of a sweet scent from the ingredients that quickly dissipates. This absorbs quickly, and on my skin, it didn’t cause any irritation, but I should note that my skin is used to retinoids, which is a must in my skincare routine, so I don’t need to go through any acclimation period.This is considered a very low concentration retinol product, so it would be good for those starting out or who experience sensitivity. Low concentration retinol products should help with skin appearance/brightness over time, and they are great for ramping up to higher concentrations to combat more age-related effects. As with most skincare, consistent use over time is required to see benefits, but retinol is an ingredient widely recognized to be effective.I personally only use this in the PM although maybe the encapsulated version is more stable in light. I’d rather not risk it unless I see really good data on that.Some of the changes from the prior/alternate formulation:The prior formulation contained carrot root extract as the second ingredient. Now, it’s listed as the 10th ingredient and is at 1,025 ppm or 0.1025%. I’ve been incorporating the GOODAL Black Carrot VITA-A Retinol Serum into my routine for a few weeks now and I’m genuinely impressed so far. As someone who regularly uses tretinoin a few times a week, I wanted a gentler retinol I could use daily—especially on my neck and in between tretinoin days. This serum fits the bill perfectly.It applies smoothly, dries down to a matte finish without feeling tight or sticky, and hasn’t caused any irritation, even on my more sensitive areas. There’s hardly any scent (if any), which I really appreciate, especially for something I’m using daily. It layers well with my other products and doesn’t pill under moisturizer.While it’s too early to speak on dramatic long-term results, my skin does feel smoother and more hydrated, with a slight evening of tone already. For a gentle retinol, especially for those easing into retinoids or with sensitive skin, this is a fantastic option—and the Korean skincare formulation just adds a layer of trust for me.So far, I’m really enjoying it and plan to continue using it consistently. If you’re looking for a daily retinol that plays well with others and doesn’t overwhelm your skin, this one’s worth a try.

I like this! It seems to work well with my skin. Since it is a low% retinol, I use it daily at night and haven’t had any issues with adverse reactions or dryness. My skin’s been loving the consistent care routine~! During the day, I’ll switch this step out with a vitamin c~!I don’t know how much it does for my skin individually, but as a whole, my routine’s been working for me. – SKII serum, this/vitamin c, eye cream, moisturizer, (sleep mask at night).

This is a wonderful, gentle, retinol product. I have been using it at night only, because I spend a lot of time outdoors and know retinols can cause photosensitivity. This absorbs quickly, doesn’t roll or pill when using other products,and has a very light scent. It has given my skin a good boost of moisture and my texture has improved.
