Finally this is a book that uses easy to find ingredients and simple steps with great results!
Though I have been a vegetarian for over 20 years and try to both eat plant based and exercise, I have long had that niggling thought that I should also be paying more attention to what beauty products I use as the skin is the largest organ in the body and one that is likely exposed to the most toxins.I am pretty good about using essential oils, Epsom salts and more recently natural body butters; but I also get rather peeved at the rather high prices charged for small quantities and the rather hit and miss nature of natural products so I decided to give this book a go as a roadmap to get started into making more own beauty items – giving me more control on what goes into them and cost. The book is a nice compact size yet contains over 150 recipes and is comprehensive covering face, body and hair. It begins with some rather useful basics –starting with staples to have at hand when making your own beauty items. I was really happy to discover that I have many of them and the others can be sourced really easily and inexpensively from right here on Amazon such as cocoa butter, Shea butter, apple cider vinegar. It then goes into shelf life, ingredients to avoid and a really useful guide to assembling a toolkit, building your own beauty herb garden and identifying skin types. The first thing I really loved was the face mists and toner -I have been paying a small fortune for these from brands like Herbivore and Fig& Yarrow; and though the recipes product a potion that will only last 7-10 days, they are super quick to make, cheap and work as well if not better! I also love there are step by step guides such as a “simple at home facial”. I was also excited to see a quick and easy turmeric face mask using on 4 ingredients that I already have: yogurt, oats, turmeric, honey with little surprises thrown in such as recipes for a turmeric smoothie and easy golden milk! There are recipes for makeup, lip balms, herbal body wraps, and scrubs, body oil including things you could make for yourself or things you can gift. The hair section is a lifesaver…as a swimmer, with an aversion to those nasty swim caps, I have dry hair which currently loves the triple threat conditioner -and it’s saving me a bundle over my usual branded argan oil mask. It features key ingredients such as coconut oil, coffee and avocado….it’s such a comprehensive book! The guides are simple and easy to follow so it is something we are having fun doing as a family; and the pictures are stunning. Finally this is a book that uses easy to find ingredients and simple steps for those of use that are time compromised and want quick and easy ways of using natural ingredients for beauty! Love it!

Natural beauty recipes for anyone
I’ve waited a few months to get this book and I am not disappointed. Gorgeous pictures, the layout is beautiful and the recipes sound wonderful. She provides lots of information and clear instructions. So glad i got this. I can’t wait to start making some next week, especially the shampoos and hibiscus moisturizer. If you are just beginning your herbal journey or been at it for years, this is a book to get. Psst..she has a facebook page with even more great recipes for apothacary/holistic/natural ideas.

Book for Using Fresh Fruits on Your Body
This is a beautiful, natural DIY beauty book with bright photos and interesting recipes. I agree with some of the other reviewers here that some of these recipes are impractical. Most of the recipes involve mashing and blending fruits together to use on your body, rather than using other natural ingredients that are readily available in a DIYer’s repertoire.Overall this is a creative and attractive book that I like. But I generally don’t have most of the fresh ingredients used in this book. It’s more for those who spend time shopping in markets for fresh fruits and want to experiment with using them in their skincare products. I’ve gotten some ideas from this book but have only attempted one of the recipes, which was a total fail- the customizable blush.

Could be better
Has some interesting information and recipes bit most of the recipes call for things you usually won’t have on hand. Which is kinda what I was looking for

The author/ publisher really paid great attention to detail with the photographs
First off, this book is gorgeous. The author/ publisher really paid great attention to detail with the photographs, which I appreciate since the photographs inspire me when I look at them. Also, the overall size of the book is smaller than I thought it would be, but I find that I like that more. Makes it easier to fit in my bookshelf or portable if I want to travel with it. The information and recipes inside are comprehensive and inexpensive for home use, another plus and kind of the point of DIY, right? Definately recommend this book for anyone trying to switch over to green beauty or who simply just loves DIY.

I LOVE this book so much
I LOVE this book so much!!! I have been wanting to make my own skin care products for so long since I have such sensitive skin, and this is the perfect book for recipes and information (not extremely detailed but gives great tips!). It is beautifully illustrated, as well (I just love to read a pretty book!)! However, if you’re not willing to buy ingredients that you may not have in your kitchen like essential oils, certain soaps, and other ingredients that can be a bit strange and pricey, this might not be the book for you. A lot of the ingredients are expensive but they are going to last a while. I’ll try to remember to give an update when I’ve made some of the recipes!

Es un manual rápido y corto para quienes buscan una forma saludable de cosmética. Esta muy enfocado en mascarillas y limpiezas cremas, no contiene maquillaje como tal, pero igual las recetas traen cosas que están en casa.

Wonderful book, truly unique recipes and beautiful photography throughout the book. I’ve made a lot of the recipes already and I’d recommend this book to anyone who loves to make their own beauty products or anyone who is interested in cutting out all the chemicals from their life. Some of the ingredients can be tricky to find, but health food stores will be a great start for many of the recipes.
