I have been intentionally allowing my hair’s natural progression to gray for more than a year; thus, the upper portion, extending past my ears, is a pure gray, while the length maintains an older, saturated auburn hue.I selected the corresponding auburn shade, which explicitly advertises comprehensive coverage of gray hair on its packaging. Counter-intuitively, the section of my hair that was unpigmented gray reacted by adopting a distinctly brassy orange tone. Conversely, the previously colored, much longer section (down to the posterior) achieved a satisfactory and vibrant auburn. Crucially, the product did not induce any perceptible damage or desiccation to the hair fiber, which is a significant testament to its conditioning formulation—it was simply the unwanted chromatic shift that was the issue.I subsequently attempted a targeted reapplication solely to the orange sections.
