Perfect for the beginner
I got interested in natural organic beauty products when drugstore shampoos didn’t seem to work with my hair anymore. Shopping for an organic shampoo led to not only seeking natural alternatives to creams and makeup, but to finding out how these natural organic products are made and what goes into each of them.Bella Rose’s “Natural Organic Makeup Recipes” satisfied my curiosity. She starts her book with a list of common chemicals found in store-bought beauty products and the dangers they pose to our health. Next, she describes beneficial ingredients such as carrier oils, essential oils, clays and spices. In her recipes, she makes use of these ingredients and I was surprised how you can use blackberries, egg-white, and beets to make lips stains and even mascara. Also, in this book, you will learn how to make foundations, blushes, eye shadows and powders. Some of us think that natural/organic makeup includes mineral makeup. However, this book is not the one for learning how to make mineral makeup. Instead of micas and iron oxides pigments, Bella Rose uses cacao powder and spices to create different skin tones for her foundations and powders.Though this book is short, I found it very informative, and I’m looking forward to trying some of the recipes because I eventually want to make my own makeup one day.

I’ve been researching natural makeup recipes online and in various e-books. This book has some interesting recipes for making your own mascara, but really you can get all of these recipes online on YouTube as well as many websites, such as wellnessmama.com.
