I have been using retinol products, including retin-A, every night for years, so my skin is well-acclimated. I don’t have sensitive skin; my issue is usually the opposite: the retinol is so gentle that I don’t see results.I really like the fact that this NEOSTRATA product contains .3% pure retinol as well as complementary ingredients, like niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, to maximize its potency.Most retinol products are easy to apply, and the NEOSTRATA serum is no different. I can cover my face without any undue effort. I sometimes layer a moisturizer over the retinol, but this product is creamy enough that it seems fine on its own.I don’t expect miracles (ever) with any skincare products, and this one is no exception. Because I’ve been using retinol for years, I focus on retaining the benefits I’ve already achieved with regular use. Vitamin C in the morning, retinol at night are the two bookends of my skincare routine and it works for me.

Pricey in my opinion, hasn’t been that harsh on my face.
I think that for $65, I’d want a bit more than I was given in this tube. This product does seem to dry my face a little bit so I have been using a moisturizer over it before I go to sleep at night. It says to start out using it on clean skin once or twice a week and build up to every day. But I haven’t had any sort of sensitivity to the product so far.As for results, I’ve been using it for about a week and haven’t really seen any changes yet. Not expecting miracles but I haven’t seen enough to say it is really working either. I’ll finish out the tube and if I see any real results I’ll chime in.

Smooth skin
This is a medium-weight, unscented, creamy serum. It goes on easy and takes little time to absorb. It does retain a slight amount of tackiness, but since I use it in the evening, it’s not a problem. I usually add a moisturizer over it anyway.Retinol can dry out my skin, but this serum feels more hydrating than others I’ve used. If I use it every night, I experience a bit of itchiness, peeling, or redness. So I use it a couple of days and then skip a night.The retinol gives my skin a smooth, glowing appearance, diminishes fine lines and wrinkles, and gives it a glow.

Pricey, but effective
I have acne-prone skin that’s been sensitized from prescription tretinoin. I try to rotate the prescription retinoid with an OTC, as that seems to help with the irritation. This may seem pricey at first, but it’s much less than what I pay for tretinoin. It also contains other antiaging ingredients, such as peptides and NeoGlucosamine. It comes in a pump that’s not only convenient, but sanitary. It also keeps the ingredients safe from exposure to light and air, so they remain effective longer. The serum goes on easily, doesn’t feel sticky or greasy. It doesn’t really have a smell. I didn’t have any irritation, but my skin is accustomed to strong retinoids. If you’re new to them, start off very sparingly and use just once or twice a week. Also, be sure to use sunscreen without fail!
