Though I had a little delivery confusion on my last order, I’ve taken this product for years, either buying it here on Amazon or at my local Sprouts/Whole Foods when it’s on sale. The type of algae they use is from Iceland and it is the best type, better than AlgaeCal’s which comes from South America. But whatever kind of calcium you use, you do NOT want to take the dreaded calcium carbonate, i.e. Tums and many other cheaper calcium supplements. All that carbonate does, as limestone chalk, is end up stuck in your arteries and can truly cause strokes and heart attacks from the blockages, plus it does virtually nothing for your body.I’ve tried the cheaper Nature’s Way Alive! algae calcium supplement, and though it is the same species, they also add magnesium oxide, which gives me some serious GI problems. This New Chapter product has been around for decades because it works. No GI upset of any kind, very soothing to my body, a little extra D3, and my DEXA scans have stayed stable, sometimes even improving, which is tough to do!The only suggestion I would make is for New Chapter to add more quality magnesium. Right now, the formula has a very minimal amount, all from the algae. I need more for my muscle cramps and for sleep help, so I add three magnesium glycinate capsules from Doctor’s Best to help even things out.As to broken tablets or bottles, I would suggest only ordering the 120 count as it comes with a beautiful, bespoke purple box around it for super secure shipping. For those saying this packaging is “excessive,” it is less resource-intensive than reshipping broken bottles over and over, plus it is fully recyclable/compostable. And since I take 4 a day to get my doctor’s prescribed 1,200 mg of calcium, 120 will last me 30 days. Amazon’s prices are also slightly better than in the stores, so I say go for it. 5* Ca tablet – Easy to swallow, no aftertaste and effective!
UPDATEBest calcium supplement on market. My calcium level are finally where my doctor wants. I have no trouble taking these 4x per day.Unlike others there is no aftertaste (common in other similar plant-based capsules), very easy to swallow and effective (confirmed by blood tests). This is the reason why I changed rating from 4 to 5.I developed severe osteoporosis resulting in multiple fractures of my shoulder, ankle and concurrent wrist and femur (I was returning home from the hospital after knee replacement surgery and fell getting out of the car despite using a walker). I ignored a diagnosis of osteopenia 20 years ago PLEASE pay attention and avoid my path!My review is based on personal experience and advice from endocrinologists at Yale Medical Center and Mayo Clinic, an orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC and a rheumatologist at John Hopkins.I recommend this product after using this product for 6 months at 4 pills/day =1200 mg total calcium (NOT the recommended dose on bottle).My calcium levels are only slightly below the recommended range. But much better than the consistently very low levels of calcium found (after 6 years) trying other brands containing calcium carbonate. Supplements contain different sources of calcium. The calcium in this product is from plant, specifically a red algae. This form is readily absorbed with or without food. You can also find synthetic calcium as a salt such as calcium citrate, maleate or carbonate. The carbonate is found in lower priced brands since it is more cheaply manufactured – and very difficult to absorb – than say calcium citrate which is more expensive.Bottom line, to be effective, any calcium supplements must include:*Absorbable calcium (plant based or synthetic)*vitamins D and K and* be absorbed in the gut at no more than 400 mg per dose.This is important – You must have absorbable calcium (from plant or algae or as a different calcium salt than the carbonate salt which lower priced brands usee and at a dose of no more than 400 mg/3x per day.In addition to being impossible to swallow, the 1200 dose just isn’t absorbed by the gut – just wasting $- believe me from personal experience and from specialist advice (whose research have proven this). In addition too much calcium is harmful in addition to being constipating.Also remember that this disease requires a multi prong approach drug +diet +excersize +Supplemental calcium.Good luck and hope this helps you.

Will definitely buy them again
Love it my bones don’t hurt any more I take them for a week and rest until they start hurting again or I believe I need calcium. I also bought some for my mother she is 70 years old and she said she feels great.

Ordered both the Bone strength and Omega vitamin. Omega vitamin was fine but the Bone strength cover was chipped and broken.

Have been taking New Chapter bone supplement for 3 months- too early to tell if bone density is improved, but I am so happy I can take a natural supplement .
