Smells like a Christmas Tree
I use essential oils to scent soy candles. I do not use it for topical or flavor applications. Fir Balsam has a very low flash point. Some say that it doesn’t matter when using in a candle, but I give my candles as gifts, so I don’t want to have to tell people to be careful just in case or find out through them that the oil caught fire, lol. I will not use this as the only scent ingredient to be on the safe side. Mixed with cedar, it adds the scent of fir trees most of us associate with Christmas trees. It really does smell like a pine forest. Like peppermint, it is a classic Christmas scent. It also blends well with the grassy scents like lavender, sage, and tea tree.When I am trying a new scent, I tend to default to purchasing NOW oils. The quality is consistent, and I trust them to be honest in their labeling. It is not my exclusive go to brand, because they are pricier than most, and they don’t sell every scent I like to use, but what they do have is authentic and a good mid-level quality that is just right as I experiment with new combinations. As you work with oils, you will discover there are some scents where quality is everything and others where it doesn’t make that much of a difference. Fir balsam is one of those scents that is not easy to find, and only the higher quality oils offer it. If you live where fir trees are abundant, you can steep a carrier oil with small branches and get something reasonably close. But the smell will fill your home, lol. You had better make sure you really, really like it, lol.

Smells just like Balsam fir
I’m not a big fan of essential oils but my husband asked me to give “balsam fir needle” a try before prohibiting any scented oils in my house. While I was very skeptical at first, (especially since it smelt like a pine tree when I first opened the bottle, but once it was in the proper diffusor it took on a completely different smell. I have fallen in love the scent permeating throughout the house. It has such a warm and very subtle sweet smell that is not off putting or “artificial” at all. Every time one of my friends come over to the house, they ask what that “incredible” smell is. This product is a definite “fixture” in my home along with a few of my friend’s homes as well. Great product. Great value. I highly recommend it.

So the reason I purchased this is I am on the hunt for the “Chrism oil” with which my daughter was baptized. For a couple of days until I washed her hair, her head smelled glorious and I want to find the scent so I can wear it all the time! I read in several places that balsam oil was the scent I was looking for – but really this just smells like a fir tree. I like it, but it’s very strong, and not what I was looking for. If you’re looking for a scent like a fir/evergreen tree, this is perfect. And in the meantime, if you know the concoction of oils that makes up that wonderful Chrism oil, please message me.

Scented Some Beard Soap…
I purchased this to use with some of my homemade soap. Different soap bases, fats, end up smelling a little bit different when essential oils are used. I decided to start with a smaller amount of oil with a small amount of soap. After the soap set, I cut it apart and smelled it. It was very subtle yet very pleasant. I increased the amount of oil for the next batch and it was much more pleasant. It did slightly change the color palate of my soap, but because I make natural soap and use natural soap dyes, I adjusted my colorants to make the soap the color I liked.It was easy to pour, and the cap was welled secured. But it wasn’t hard to open and the label is very clear and it is easy to read and I can tell which oil I have when I pick it up. The brown bottle keeps the ultra violet light out from the sun so the oil stays fresher longer. Over all I am pleased with this essential oil and the quality for soap making. Because of the saponification process, some soaps need a little more essential oils. It also arrived in a timely manner and was well packaged. This is a good quality product to use and most people that use essential oils for common uses will like it too, but that is my opinion. But I feel like you can’t do wrong with price and quality.

No returns on leaked bottles!
This order:Ordered the Balsam Fir.Smells like musty wood with a touch of garbage. Acrid and rancid. NOW’s quality nosedived! They’re selling opened bottles. They won’t refund when bottles spill out in the packaging, and to top it off, they smell disgusting!My last three bottles smell terrible. One came with a broken seal. Another with no seal and soaked an 8″x11″ packing slip, the label soaked off of the bottle..it was just delivered. I wouldn’t have had time to concoct this. I have pictures. I can’t get a refund even though I received the contents of my purchase are all over the packaging, instead of inside the bottle where it belongs.Not happy. Money down the drain.I don’t work for a competitor. Nobody paid me to write this. I’ve got a bag full of NOW essential oils and they all smell great.Over $30-40.00 wasted! Never Again!

smells like Christmas but only for 5 minutes (very weak fragrance that doesn’t last)
I bought a bunch of different fir/pine essential oils looking for that real fresh “Christmas tree” smell. This one is it. The others smell odd and not like pine. However, it is VERY faint and the smell only lasts for 5 minutes in the diffuser. Wish it smelled stronger and lasted. Already have gone through half the bottle in 2 days just trying to get the smell to be stronger and last. So sad because the fragrance is spot on for fresh pine tree. 5 stars for great fragrance but minus 2 stars for strength and duration of fragrance. Don’t know if they can make this stronger somehow. Update: I poured a ton of this on a tissue and stuffed it into the Christmas tree, smells great like that (better than the diffuser) but still doesn’t last long. Wish this could be made to last longer because the smell is exceptional as compared to the 5 other balsam fir essential oils I bought on Amazon.

I purchased this because I’d heard that if you put the oil at the base of the big toes, a person would stop snoring. What the heck… nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? IT WORKS!!!! Un-freaking-believable! How, does it work? I have no idea and it doesn’t really matter. There’s no way it’s harmful and we’re both sleeping better!!!
