Note: do not use this stuff every day as a preventative. Echinacea does not prevent colds, just helps you get over them faster. Using it all the time makes it less effective and might cause harm. More of a good thing is not always better. Only take it when you are showing symptoms, or you know you have been exposed (like someone in your home or workplace is actively sick).That said, this is my go-to formula for fighting colds & flu. I have health problems that often make me feel miserable even when I’m not sick, so the dread of coming down with a cold that will make me feel even worse is palpable. For the reasons stated above, I don’t take this every day; I try to take it at the first sign of an illness, especially when I know there’s something nasty going around, or someone in my household is sick. A scratchy throat or sniffles are enough. When I remember to use this right away, the symptoms usually clear up within a day or two without getting worse. If I start after I’m already completely sick, it still seems to help me recover faster than everyone around me, but I have to be really diligent about remembering to take it 3 or 4 times a day at that point. When I forget to use this (or I’ve run out), I get just as sick as everyone else, or worse.The flavor of these concentrated extracts does pack a punch, so you will probably want to dilute it well in a big cup of water or tea. It may also be irritating to the mucous membranes of your mouth and throat if you take it straight. I find that chamomile tea mixes with this better than most things. I can tolerate it in coffee or juice for the good of my health, but I have to accept that I’m not going to enjoy that beverage.

Love this extract. My acne cleared up. I feel more energized. It’s just awesome at keeping the bad bugs away while everyone is coughing (while I sit there healthy as an ox!). When I initially received my first bottle I decided to give my immune system a boost and take a 2 full droppers in about 12 oz. warm water (as a tea) 3 times a day for about 2 weeks. Now I’ve tapered off and have added a variety of herbal extracts as well. In between tea I did make sure and drink plenty of water and for the most part I did not drink the tea during meals. You can do this so your extracts are not having to fight your food to fully benefit you. The taste is quite vile if you take it directly in your mouth but two droppers added to warm water is no big deal. Especially if you consider the huge benefits you’re getting. It’s really helping me inside and out! I also put a little dab on a cotton puff and swiped that all over my face. Let it sit for just a minute then rinsed it off. The next day people were telling me at work that I had a “glow!” I’m 31 so hearing that is a huge compliment! I feel lighter on my toes and my appetite had been suppressed. I’m also more regular. What more can a gal (or guy) ask for?!

Love this Combination
I grew up with Golden Seal in our home and was pleased to see it combined with Echinacea, which was something I discovered later in life. The combination has kept me healthy and combated the inclining of sniffles. This continues to be a part of my weekly regiment.

Great Immune System Booster!
I use this in addition to vitamin C to prevent colds & sinus infections. It works great! Tastes like old leaves, but it’s worth it (sometimes I mix it with juice or my vitamin C powder) Two weeks before my wedding my parents and Fiancé came down with a horrible flu. I thought for sure I’d be walking down the aisle sick & congested. My fiancé got this for me & I took it a few times a day for about a week. One week before the wedding I felt slightly sick, but was able to sleep it off within a few hours. Phew! I used to get sick for three weeks with sinus infections, so preventing colds is a big deal to me (as was feeling great on my wedding day!) I rarely get sick now, but did take it for a few days recently for a cold. It kept everything at bay & I didn’t suffer from much congestion at all! Really great natural product.

Dropper not working
When I received the bottle the dropper doesn’t work. How do I measure it now? Unacceptable.

Yucky taste but worthy of buying!
Why four stars? Because this stuff tastes absolutely terrible! Extremely earthy tasting. Mix a dropperful in a little bit of heavily flavored liquid like grape juice or tea. Then be ready to chase it down again with something strong. The first time I took this stuff I couldn’t get the flavor out of my mouth all day. I kept tasting it. But really don’t let detour you from getting this stuff. I take it when I just don’t feel right. Like maybe a cold is coming on. Maybe it’s just me, but I really feel this has stopped me from getting sick. (Knock on wood)

I was about to go to China for a month, and beginning to have flu like symptoms. A friend recommended that I take Echinacea w/ Goldenseal. She said she regularly takes it and never gets sick. I took a bottle with me to China. Sure enough, I did NOT get sick. I had already started having flu like symptoms before I left, but never did get sick.Fast forward 2 months later. I went to Alaska, and went on an Alaskan cruise. Our last port was Vancouver in Canada. I stayed an extra 3 days so I could sightsee, but ended up being sick those last 3 days and did not get to sightsee Vancouver at all.I came home and was so congested. I was sick for over 3 weeks. The same friend suggested Echinacea w/ Goldenseal again. This time, I bought 3 bottles so I could have a bottle in my bedroom, kitchen and living room. This way, I could add it to whatever I was drinking throughout the day.I don’t know if it’s a coincidence. I was taking antibiotics AND over the counter cold medication…but I really did not start feeling better until I started taking the Echinacea and Goldenseal.I am going to Washington DC later this month, and I am making sure I have a bottle with me!!! I am never going to go anywhere without it again! In fact, I have decided to make it a daily supplement!
