We live in a world where everyone is sick. Our intestinal flora has taken a beating and our health symptoms show the suffering. Rebuilding that flora is done by supporting the microbiome in a manner specific to what each person needs. Using commercial probiotics and food-based probiotics is becoming commonplace, knowing which one to use when and how to use each, is a different story.
Finding the answers can be like finding a penny in a pond, it’s there but if you don’t know where to look, you could be wasting a lot of time and money.
The market is getting flooded with commercial probiotics. Some are amazingly healthy, but others are filled with ingredients which feed the pathogens, something we want to avoid. Learn the tricks manufacturers are using to make sales instead of healthy customers. Amazing book!
The book sumarizes all informations about probiotics, and helps you understand the difference between commercial probiotics and probiotic food. After you read this book, you know why home made kefir is much better than any other probiotic, and also when to use commercial probiotics. Becky gives examples of brands that are worth to buy and she also explains bacterias roles in the body & what are the differences between pathogenic and probiotic strains of bacterias. This is book that was missing on my shelf!

Research shows the power of fermented foods
This book is a great collection of studies on fermented foods, showing the types and benefits of various cultures, as well as which are helpful for different conditions. It really demonstrates how much more powerful home fermented foods are compared to commercially produced probiotic pills, and how some caution is needed around supplements. And they frankly may not be needed at all, especially when cost is a concern. As a healthcare practitioner I nerded out on the info, but if may be a bit dry for a layperson. One start off for some haphazard organization. I made my own notes to reference more easily.

The text in the book is bulleted though without symbols. No narration, just facts listed, very hard to follow. I could not read it. It would have been better if illustrations were in colour. It would not add more information to the pictures but at least the impression would have been better.
