    From Natasha:I just finished a wonderful book by Elsa Rivers, Superfood Metabolism Booster.It was refreshing to revisit some basics of Ayurveda. Without going too deep into science, the author explains how to regulate metabolism with certain foods and supplements, emphasizing a holistic approach. Elsa Rivers also gives practical guidance on how and when to eat.I especially enjoyed the sections about ghee and its uses. The book offers valuable information on anti-inflammatory superfoods, gut health and microbiome support, antioxidants, phytonutrients, and cellular repair. For those who need a gluten-free lifestyle, the author provides a helpful list of alternatives.One particularly interesting chapter focuses on fermented foods and digestive health. I also loved the suggested superfood rituals, along with the many recipes included—I’m excited to try some of the tonics at night.Another highlight was learning which foods and oils work best for different skin types. The seasonal eating guide—what to eat and what to avoid in each season—was insightful.     Extremely insightful book! As an anemic person, I especially found helpful the information about beets and their role in preventing anemia, along with their other benefits. The recipes will make it easier for me to incorporate beets in my daily meals, so I’m looking forward to seeing improvements in the overall health.In a world where economic decisions have made regular foods “super foods” just for the sake on increasing consumption, this book provides scientific and medical information behind WHY certain foods are so beneficial, not only in the western but also eastern medicine and culture, as well as their history, along with helpful and easy recipes.The book is easy to understand while maintaining medical/scientific terms and structuresd in such a way that’s it’s very simple to read, or just skip to the part you’re interested in.It doesn’t get any easier than this to make an informed decision about our diet and health. I would give it 10 stars if I could!

    Superfoods Explained—And Worth Adding to Your Plate
    I really loved reading Superfood Metabolism Booster. After going through chemotherapy, I’ve gathered a lot of information about nutrition, but this book still gave me fresh and inspiring ideas. I can’t wait to add many of these superfoods to my regular meals. The author shares wonderful insights into how certain foods can truly help the body heal and thrive.My only wish is that there had been a bit more on the healing properties of mushrooms—especially turkey tail and lion’s mane. Even so, this book remains an excellent resource, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in boosting their health through nutrition.

    As a 60+ year old RA patient working to recover from 2+ year battle with an infection, this book gives me hope there is a path to nutritional and psychic wellness that I can continue to walk. I realize this is not an immediate fix at all and superfoods come from nature; and there is a seasonal flux to their availability and purpose as well. It is not Top Ten list of good and bad foods. It provides the scientific knowledge and ancient wisdom to understand how a human body operates and how to navigate the consumption and preparation of ‘superfoods’ to boost health and strength. I’ve “dabbled” in understanding the effects of inflammation for years but this book guides me through a more thorough understanding to address my current issues associated with energy level, weight, hormones, hair loss and cognitive issues. The book is chaptered so the reader can get an overall background then pursue the issues or foods that are of most interest to them as they create their path. As some of these foods are generally well known and others aren’t, the author provides methods to incorporate them and to create an affordable pantry of regular foods from which to draw. This is a resource to continue to read, develop and practice to develop a lifestyle in sync with the natural world.
