A good list of common herbs one can use for common ailments and skin care
I like how this book is organized. Often, books on herbal remedies go on to describe plants. This book is well organized into the different ailments that we all suffer from. The first chapter addresses herbal cold remedies, the second focuses on upset stomach, the next chapter covers earache remedies, alkaline remedies, arthritis relief, general wellness, gout, menstrual health, skin care, and more.Each chapter provides insights into the most common herbs used for a particular purpose—whether it’s for hair, skin, digestion, or immunity—and gives you the tools to make and apply these remedies. I really like the easy-to-follow herbal recipes, herb profiles, and tips for safe use, as well as holistic wellness advice. In addition to herbs, there are lifestyle practices, nutrition, and stress-management techniques to support your wellness journey.I particularly appreciate the bonus chapter on growing your own herbal garden at the end of the book. Highly recommended.My opinions are my own.

WOW! This book has so many useful recipes that I’m extremely happy and excited to use these on me and my family. I’ve already used some of the relaxation tea blends and my daughter and I are happy with the results. She has diagnosed ADHD and I have some of the same issues and the Lavender and chamomile stress blend has been extremely helpful even just this afternoon. My daughter’s mind calmed down enough to concentrate on her classwork, and that in and of itself is a relief to me let alone her, and this was the first time she used this blend. I’m just thankful I had the ingredients to try it right away. Understand this worked for her and may not for someone else….but it doesn’t hurt to try it. And if anything else it’s a good blend to make ice tea with a different flavor for summer without any caffeine to cause dehydration.

This book is explains how herbal remedies can aid with health issues such as the common cold, stomach issues, and even pain relief. Each section contains certain areas to use herbal remedies. It includes helpful tips to maintain a healthy life style and gives easy to follow recipes for teas, balms, oils, tinctures, and scrubs. Each recipe gives instructions of when to use it and where to find the ingredients, which can be tricky at times. Many of the ingredients can be grown in an herbal garden or found at the local shop.There are recipes to create your own spa day. Hair rinses, exfoliating masks, lip balms, and skin care scrubs and creams. Toward the back of the book, there is a list that describes the nutritional values of the herbs and spices used in the recipes and how to use them in other cooking recipes. There are even instructions for creating your own herb garden. This book is a must for those interested in the herbal approach and so you know, the Spicy Cinnamon and Clove Tea is delicious.

It seems the author wasn’t finished with the book
This book is AWESOME!! But if you read the book it seems the author got frustrated and was just trying to finish the book. I say this because the format the way the book was written is off. Example number one, for recipe, Peppermint & Licorice Energy Tea, instruction number one says to steep the herbs. But then in recipe, Chamomile & Lavender Sleep Tea, instruction number one says to combine herbs and strainer. Example number two, in recipe, Soothing Lavender & Peppermint Balm, instruction number one states to melt oil and beeswax in a double boiler. But in recipe, Chamomile & Rosehip Lip serum, in instruction number one it states the dried flowers and rosehip oil be heated gently. This example confuses me, because I’m not sure if double boiler and heating gently is the same thing. And then under the herbal steams for the face, the author interchanges between stating to lean over bowl, cover head and steam for 10 minutes to “steam face for 10-15 minutes.” This one the author seems like it was just trying to finish the book. So overall the published book doesn’t seem like it was really ready for publishing. It reads like it’s a rough draft. But overall, as a person with a medical background, I learned some interesting things I didn’t know.

This book has some good points. I would not say that it is for beginners. This is for someone who has a good grasp on this topic and is looking to add to their arsenal. While it is easy to understand there are a few questions that it doesn’t answer. An example would be in the growing your own herbs,very generic directions. No tips on how to make a go of it. What herbs require more attention. How do you tell when they are ready to harvest?The different places that have a recipe for tea, each herb could require a different temperature of water, a different length of time to steep so as to not get a bitter taste.To sum up, this book has so good material, but there are too many blanks for my tastes.

Informative and practical by offering an easy step by step guide to the recipes to make your own tinctures, teas, balms, and oils. I found the herb profiles to be especially beneficial! I appreciate the sections for causes/prevention as I gleaned quite a few take-aways and the section for the face is terrific with scrubs, masks, and steams! Plus there’s the added bonus of the holistic wellness practices.This book is a great addition to my Holistic library!
