What if good health-body, mind, and spirit-came down to what we think and how we manage stress?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), stress is the number one cause of disease. Yet most people have no idea how stress has thrown their lives off-balance, disconnecting them from who they really are. In The Stress Rx: A Neurologist’s Ayurvedic Prescription for Happiness and Health, Dr. Trupti Gokani uses the ancient wisdom of ayurveda and her Three Brain Model(TM) to show you how to find true, holistic health.
As a neurologist who has spent over two decades in clinical practice, Dr. Gokani has a powerful message to share.
What if, instead of changing your diet, adding supplements, or more exercise, you focused on shifting your brain programs?
What if changing how you and your brain perceive stress could take care of 80 to 90 percent of your struggles?
If this shift could reduce your risk of disease and improve your longevity far more than any dietary change, pill, or exercise routine, would you be interested in giving it a try?
The Stress Rx will show you how.

Life-changing and compassionate — a must-read for anyone navigating stress
I read StressRx at a time when I truly needed it. Life felt overwhelming—juggling work, family, and personal changes—and I was searching for something more than just surface-level stress tips. Dr. Trupti Gokani’s book turned out to be exactly what I needed. What makes StressRx so special is the heart behind it. Dr. Gokani doesn’t just offer generic advice; she weaves together ancient wisdom from Ayurveda with modern science in a way that feels deeply personal and practical. The book helped me understand not only why I was feeling so anxious and depleted, but also how to work with my body and mind to find balance again. One section that really stuck with me was about the Default Mode Network (DMN)—I had never heard of it before, but it completely made sense. The DMN is the brain’s “default mode”—where your thoughts go when your mind is wandering or during restful activities like meditation. I realized how often my mind was stuck in unproductive loops when not focused on something external, and understanding this helped me see why mindfulness practices are so powerful in calming the nervous system. It was such an aha moment that connected the dots between what I was feeling and what was actually happening in my brain.I also loved how compassionate Dr. Gokani’s tone is—it felt like having a wise friend guiding me through each chapter. The exercises and reflections are simple yet powerful, and I’ve already started incorporating many of them into my daily life. They’ve made a real difference in how I handle stress and how I care for myself. If you’re feeling burned out, anxious, or just stuck in survival mode, StressRx is a gift. It helped me reconnect with myself in ways I didn’t realize I needed. I can’t recommend it enough.

A Practical and Powerful Guide to Healing Stress at Its Roots
Dr. Trupti Gokani’s The Stress Rx is a brilliant synthesis of neuroscience, Ayurveda, and emotional healing, grounded in both her clinical expertise and personal experience. What sets this book apart is how deeply practical and down-to-earth it is—full of actionable tips that are easy to incorporate into daily life.My favorite chapter was on trauma and the lingering charge of triggers. Her explanation of internal and external triggers was eye-opening and helped me finally release some long-held reactive patterns. As someone who has worked with the chakras for decades, I also deeply appreciated her clear and concise overview of the chakra system and its essential role in supporting balance across body, mind, and spirit. This is a powerful, compassionate, and useful guide. Highly recommended for anyone seeking holistic tools to transform stress at its roots.

Healing in Practice: A Daily Path to Balance
With warmth and wisdom, Trupti reminds us that moving beyond a life lived in stress and survival mode, and bringing our lives into balance, takes daily practice. She compassionately offers guidance and tools to help us recognize triggers that pull us toward places and experiences that may feel like danger zones. Gently encouraging us not to avoid these dark places, Trupti provides techniques we can practice daily to quiet emotional reactivity and approach these places tenderly—with courage, curiosity, grace, and humility. Stress Rx beautifully reminds us that healing is a daily practice, and we all have the power to move—bit by bit, every day—closer to our authentic selves.

An Impressive Manual on Living Your Healthiest Life
I opened up The Stress Rx with the expectation that I’d learn a little about ayurveda, something I’d long wondered about. I was curious about this alternative approaches to medicine and healthy living through natural practices so popular in India that some of my friends were talking about.I cracked open the book, and: wow.I expected it to be informative and smart, which it is, in spades. But what I didn’t expect was how far this book would go into and beyond ayurveda, offering a larger, hopeful, attainable vision of how to live healthfully and fully across so many other areas of life: psychology, gut health, nutrition, mindfulness, exercise.Written by a neurologist, The Stress RX is a manual on how to live your best life: body, mind and soul. It is based in scientific principles, medical studies, and the author’s own lived experiences in and out of her clinics to offer a life plan for the healthiest way forward.Bonus: It’s nicely written and edited. I found it to be a page turner that is completely accessible and offers takeaway smarts at the end of each chapter. The Stress RX accomplishes all of this with grace and a respectful you-can-do-it tone. It operates at both a beginner and intermediate level. The author’s voice jumps from every page.I’m going to keep this at my bedside to consult and inspire for a long time. Impressive book, highly recommended.
