White Sage essential oil differs from other sage oils (Clary, Dalmatian, etc.) in scent and and usage. The dominant constituent in White Sage oil is Cineole (Eucalyptol) which gives this particular oil a piney or herbal Eucalyptus like aroma. This is also a different scent than burning dried white sage leaves (smudge).

White Sage Oil Scent Profile Clarification
I see a number of reviews here complaining that the white sage essential oil smells like eucalyptus, and claiming it must be fake! Actually, real white sage essential oil smells nothing like fresh white sage leaves, or burning leaves (as used for smudging). White sage essential oil contains 1,8-cineole and other compounds like camphor, α-pinene, and camphene. These compounds give a eucalyptus-like scent. It is normal for white sage essential oil to resemble eucalyptus and rosemary oils. Check with any manufacturer of white sage oil and you will learn that this is indeed the normal scent profile. Don’t expect it to smell like a smudge bundle. I received my white sage oil today and it does have a scent that resembles light eucalyptus and rosemary, but the scent is sweeter, more pleasant, and more complex than pure eucalyptus oil. I think it is real white sage oil, and the pricing is great.

Pure White Sage
This is the only sage oil I will use. I have purchased it 3 different times now and it smells just like white sage. I only use one drop in my diffuser and I diffuse it all day long and it usually lasts me a few months.

Excellent through and smooth scent without bite
January 29, 2025: I purchased the 10mL bottle of white sage. Compared to the other white sage essential oil I have on hand, this is much smoother. To me, it is more accurate to the plant than the oil from Mountain Rose. I am going to be using it to make white sage wax melts, so I tested the oil in a wax burner. Using only 5 drops of the oil in spent wax, the throw on this oil is amazing. The scent has reached the bedroom from the living room. We’re talking about a good 25 feet and 2 open doorways. I’m looking forward to using this oil to make wax melts some time in the next few weeks. I’ll update this review when I have those results.

Isn’t sage oil
I’ve been buying sage oil for years, as well as many other essential oils for herbal remedies. This is not sage oil, it appears to be a diluted Eucalyptus oil, but has the incorrect label on it as it is labeled sage oil.I’ll not be using this for medicinal purposes as I can’t be sure what all it is, so will just be using it in the diffuser in the bathroom.(Eucalyptus oil should never be used in rooms where pets are as it can be toxic to your animals.)I have many fur companions of varying types, so I typically don’t like to purchase much Eucalyptus oil or tea tree oil, to keep my fur friends safe.I’m very disappointed as I was hoping to start utilizing this brand, but now feel it to be unreliable with product inspections, quality, and accuracy of what they are labeling. This can be very dangerous for people who don’t know the difference if they are using these medicinally, so please be careful if you are novice to the field.
