Very good…no flu shot but stayed well
Update 5/30/2019: Elderberry is the bomb! Made it through flu season and Spring. Took no flu shot. Spent time in the presence of multiple “sickies” (and I say that with humor and love because it was a rough flu season and my heart broke at the time to see so many people sick) but I never got a single sniffle. I have started with Zhou’s elderberry gummies and then was given the chance to try their syrup as I shared in my original review below. Between the two, I stayed well. I upped my rating from 4 to 5 stars.Original review: I got a chance to offer pre-launch feedback on Zhou’s Elderberry Syrup and I’m now posting what I shared with Zhou below. I currently rate it at 4 stars based on the bottle I received not showing how many milligrams of Elderberry syrup are in a serving but from what I understand, this was an oversight and will be changed. Here is the review I shared with them:First off, before I jump into the review, let me begin by saying that about 3 weeks ago, I finished using up a bottle of Zhou’s elderberry gummies. The reason why that is important is because after I finished using the gummies, I was interested in trying a more potent syrup product because I noticed that a recurring vertigo issue that I get several times a year had cleared up much faster than usual and although I could find no claims anywhere that Elderberry immune products help with vertigo (stemming from recurring sinus issues – not from a head/inner ear injury or Menieres disease), I wanted to get on a more potent syrup form of the product to see if I might experience relief throughout the winter.Zhou Nutrition did not have an Elderberry Syrup product available at the time. I ended up buying the Nature’s Answer brand of Elderberry Syrup so the review that I offer will include my general impressions of Zhou’s product along with some comparison observations.I like the flavor of Zhou’s Elderberry syrup. It’s lighter in weight and it isn’t as harsh tasting as Nature’s Answer (which is thicker and tastes a bit like a strong, overly sweet black strap molasses with a slight burn. They tell you to mix with sparkling water but I don’t have time in the mornings so I take it straight and chase it with a sip of hot tea or coffee. Zhou’s syrup is pleasant enough that I don’t need a chaser.) I like that the general serving size of Zhou’s elderberry syrup is only one teaspoon (although you can take up to 3 teaspoons). The general serving size for Nature’s Answer is two teaspoons which is why I went for the big 16 oz size of their product. Both the 8 oz bottle of Zhou’s syrup and the 16 oz bottle of Nature’s Answer contain 48 servings. If looking at serving size and not volume, Zhou’s syrup would be cheaper. $16.99 for Zhou and $27.00 for Nature’s Answer.I also like the inclusion of the apple cider vinegar in Zhou’s elderberry syrup. I have no idea what that does for immunity but I did read online that elderberry syrup is also used for weight loss. Apple cider vinegar is a well known appetite suppressant so adding this ingredient was smart. I like that you’re not just limiting your reach to those in need of an immunity product. The first day I took it was the day I received it (Christmas Eve), and although it’s soon to tell whether appetite suppressing benefits will continue, I was barely able to finish my meal at a Christmas Eve brunch I hosted. I couldn’t tell if it was holiday fatigue or the syrup but I am hoping it is a benefit of the syrup as I am someone who needs to lose weight.I like that the elderberries are organic. Now on to the things I didn’t like. These are things that have more to do with the way I like to shop. Before I decided on Nature’s Answer, I must have compared the ingredient deck and value (based on volume and serving size) to at least 10 to 15 other elderberry syrup products on Amazon. I also read up on elderberry benefits online. If Zhou’s elderberry syrup product had been available at the time, as much as I love Zhou’s products, I think I might have still gone with Nature’s Answer and here’s why:When you study the ingredient deck, Nature’s Answer offers 2,500 mg of black elderberry concentrate per serving. Zhou’s ingredient deck doesn’t break out the amount of pure elderberry concentrate that is being offered. It’s all included with the proprietary blend that includes honey, cider vinegar, echinacea, elderberry and other stuff. And yes, I know that there’s so much information (and perhaps misinformation) about what a good daily, preventive dosage really is, but consumers like me still want to see what they are getting. I think it is great that some of the other ingredients like echinacea and cider vinegar are included BUT a lot of supplement companies sell products and list a proprietary blend without telling you how much of the “superstar” ingredient is really in there. I don’t think comparison shoppers like me will expect this from Zhou. You seem to have pure intent and a desire to be very transparent and honest so some of your fans will wonder why you didn’t do a nutritional breakdown specifically listing how much elderberry concentrate is in a serving.

Great Tasting Immunity Booster!
I’ve tried many different Elderberry syrups and this one is really great! It has the added benefits of Apple cider vinegar, raw honey, Echinacea and propolis tincture! Considering all this and the size of the bottle it’s reasonably priced as well! Some people have complained about the taste but my whole family loves it! We are all pretty big vinegar fans though but I think it’s delicious! It is a lot thinner than many other elderberry syrups which I love because they can be so thick and overly sweet! This combo of elderberry, ACV and honey is perfect in my opinion. Make sure you shake it up well before you drink, otherwise not only will it not taste as good, you won’t get all the elements mixed together for consumption.I gave this to my sister who recently caught a pretty bad upper respiratory infection too and it seriously helped her lessen the severity. She was I’m pretty bad shape for over a week when I have her this, along with some vitamin c and a mushroom complex and within a day of that she was 85% better! She forgot to take it one day after feeling better and her congestion and cough returned. She started up again and has been feeling great ever since. Definitely worth having on hand for any colds or flus this year!

This is a great product – you have to try it!
I received my Elderberry Syrup on Christmas Eve. That in itself was a great, unexpected surprise – such quick service! I immediately started taking it. As is normal at this time of year, we have been around a lot of sick people and at so many different gatherings, I was ready to take this product to help my immune system fight the ‘bugs’ I was exposed to. I like the taste. I would recommend keeping it in the refrigerator as it tastes even better when it’s cold. I am used to taking apple cider vinegar so that taste didn’t bother me at all. Some people might have trouble getting used to it, but I recommend sticking with it, it definitely grows on you. I have taken it for two days now, as directed three teaspoon fulls a day. I don’t know if I will back off to one or two, but for now I feel I need the extra boost. I have had plenty of energy, no sign of any illness coming on and for some reason I have even slept better the last couple of nights. I’m not sure if there is a correlation, but I’m happy with that result. The price is reasonable because it is a big bottle! This product is a win-win in my mind as it is an all-natural way to stay healthy and it won’t break the bank.

Some might not like the taste, but this stuff works!
I don’t mind the apple cider vinegar taste that underlies the elderberry flavor but some might not care for it. I started taking this twice a day in early January, along with zinc and C to get rid of a stuffy head. It didn’t take long to kick the cold, a few days at most, I know it was less than a week. I have been taking it once a day since, along with zinc, C and NAC, in order to boost my immune system. I’m so glad I have been proactive in light of the current climate of hysteria due to COVID-19. I know I’m not bulletproof but I like my odds of either resisting the virus or having a mild case. Of course it’s best to try to limit exposure, frequent hand washing/sanitizing (followed by lots of hand cream due to sandpaper hands), disinfecting, and avoiding people in general. It appears others have researched the immune benefits of elderberry since almost every brand is currently out of stock. I have it in my subscribe and save and try to stay a bottle ahead so I don’t run out. I highly recommend taking this during cold and flu season (and COVID-19). Keep calm and carry on everyone…and please stop hoarding the toilet paper!
