Make Tea The Old Fashioned Way
My mother-in-law is British and she loves her tea. The first time I experienced how much she loves her tea was when I offered to make her some tea using a name brand tea that comes in single use tea bags. It was the ‘you’ve got to be kidding’ look she gave me that let me know I wasn’t doing it right. Well, that and the sidesplitting laughter from my wife.So…….looseleaf tea it is. And if you use looseleaf tea, you’re gonna need a tea ball.These are nicely crafted teaballs, they have a large enough capacity to make sure your tea is strong and full flavored. They open and secure easily and the chain has a small hook that can be placed on the tea cup so you can steep your tea to your liking. After use it’s just a quick rinse and they are ready to go again.They work great, they’re well priced and most importantly, these get ‘moms’ approval.

I bought these to put small parts in an ultrasonic cleaner. They work very well for that.I have slightly larger versions that I use for brewing loose tea and those work well too. The contents of the baskets stay put and the latch stays shut. One needed a tiny adjustment to stay closed but that was an easy job for some pliers.

Good for price, not amazing
These are very cost effective, however after a few uses and washes, I did notice that teac leaves would escape the steeper and settle into the bottom of the mug. Kind of annoying, not the end of the world for me. Sometimes I just strain the tea again before drinking, sometimes I don’t. I like the three pack because I make my red raspberry leaf tea in bulk ahead of time and then drink it chilled for my pregnancy.

Very poor design
The hook broke off before I even used one of the balls. They don’t completely seal so a lot of the loose leaf tea comes out of the ball and floats in your water. All three balls were like this. Im not pleased at all.

Why not?
I’m switching to loose leaf green tea due to warnings about microplastics from tea bags, and I’m sure just about everywhere else in the grocery store. Microplastics may or may not be important, but it seems the direction to make the mistake is to avoid them. These little tea infusers take the place of a micro plastic-releasing tea bag (it says right here, in my new “healthy eating” book), and do a nice job of it. Why not?
