A definite re-buy from us! This elderberry syrup has more than just elderberry, which adds to the benefits and to the flavor! Most syrups we have tried are very thin and watery. But this was thick and robust, as shown in the video! So happy that we found an elderberry syrup that the whole family enjoys before flu and cold season! 10/10Edit: For everyone posting about the sugar, 1 gram per teaspoon is not harmful. Sugar is what makes it shelf stable without using alcohol or other preservatives. I have been using this product for years before it hit Amazon and the sugar content has never been an issue.

Thick, sweet, and made in the US
It’s very sweet, but then again the first two of three Other Ingredients are sugar and honey. The other spices are ginger, cinnamon, rosehips, star anise, and cloves. Most of them are ‘warm’ spices and are not my favorites individually, much less as a group. My preference would be to have half the amount of those warm spices in the syrup. My syrup was shipped and received in the last few days of September, and the expiration of the bottle is February, and no specific day in the month is offered. Four months or so isn’t a particularly long time, unless it’s taken one dose every day, then the forty seven dose is fine for that time frame.Elderberry gummies list the main ingredient as Black Elder (Sambucus nigra) (berry) juice powder 50mg, and this syrup is Elderberry 550mg (350 mcg as Rutin). Honestly I have no idea how the gummies correlates to the syrup. The syrup also costs about eight times as much per serving as the gummies at wally world.

Too Much Sugar in Ingredients Could Be Counterproductive, Other Ingredients Seem Fine
There is so much sugar in this “Northern Elderberry Amped Up Elderberry Syrup, Black Sambucus” that I wonder if it’s not counterproductive to supporting one’s immune system or staving off illness (potentially). It’s my understanding that sugar feeds “bad bugs,” so I’m quite confused why cane sugar is the first (main) ingredient when honey is also included in the ingredients.I took a teaspoon of this syrup since I am currently sick and hoped it would perhaps help in some way, but upon closer inspection and seeing that cane sugar is the first and foremost ingredient, I decided that it wouldn’t be good for me personally as I try to avoid sugar as much as possible when I am ill or when I’m trying to fight off an illness.The other natural ingredients seem fine, but I feel the amount of sugar in this would possibly counteract any of the potential benefits of the elderberry and other ingredients. I don’t understand the reason for all of the sugar, and find it incredibly (unpleasantly) sweet and taste only the sugar with a slight aftertaste of cinnamon.I suppose if the sugar wasn’t included, it would be much more in line for what I would feel comfortable in helping to support my health and immune system, but as it is, it’s not for me.
